Bootleg CD: a brief reflection

When it comes to live bootlegs I try to have just the best of the best. To me its no use to have hundreds of recordings that we barely can hear the instruments or voice and we just hear the audience.
In this last years the bootleggers have been releasing stuff in digipack stuff and I have to say that are the ones that I normally choose. I prefer soundboards and radio broadcasts because in most cases they have great sound.
I just buy bootlegs if they have something interesting, I don't want or need them all.
These are a great selection from the best ones available, I hope you enjoy it.

Bootleg CD: Phantom Of The Opera CD boxset. Holland show from 1981.

Sometimes when I see such an edition like this one that I'm showing to you, I really think that this people should work to big record companies and make the official issues. Sometimes bootleg releases are way much better than the official ones. This Phantom Of The Opera Box was released in 1991, the CD is a live recording on April, 28 1981, in Holland, during The Killers World Tour. Its a radio broadcast, the sound is great, my particular copy is in almost mint condition.
I also have to say that this box comes not with this CD but with one in red with band signatures and a the Eddie Cyborg face, the fact was that I bought this box without the CD and then I had to buy a CD with the same show, tracks and same alignment, so don't worry guys, there's just one edition.
A curious thing is that the photos are from The Somewhere In Time World Tour, but it is almost a tradition on this releases have this kind of mistakes.

Maiden Japan 1981 , brings almost the entire show ( I think is missing "Prowler"), has 17 tracks, amazing sound, tri-fold digipack Cd with photos inside. This recording is the soundboard that they used to make the official Maiden Japan live EP. Bootleg CD: The Big Heat. Digipack CD. Live at Sun Plaza Tokyo 1981.

Another marvelous recording from the Killers world tour 1981. This tour was probably the one that produced the best bootleg audio recordings.
The Big Heat was a show recorded at the Sun Plaza, Tokyo on May 24Th, 1981. Its almost for sure a soundboard recording such is the quality, in the limit can be a radio broadcast.
Has 16 tracks, in the end of transylvania Mr. Dave Murray makes a great solo guitar. This package comes in the format of a digipack CD.

Bootleg CD: War Machine, No Prayer On The Road 1990/91.

War machine is another great recording, possibly, the best one from the No Prayer world tour. This is a recording from the gig Maiden gave on the Wembley Arena December 18, 1990. The last track from the Cd is taken from a Nicko Mcbrain picture disc called, Rhythm Of The Beast.
I don't know if this is a soundboard recording, I know there is another one from this show, called "Save Your Prayers", and its a soundboard. Actually it was from the recording that they take the songs to put on the Fear Of The Dark and Real Live one b-side singles.
The sound is very good if you like this kind of material.

Bootleg CD: The Eternal Flame, The X Factour. November 1 and 5 1995.

The Eternal Flame is one of the best bootlegs around from Iron Maiden. This one cost me just 10 Euros in a local second hand record shop, again I got lucky because they use to pass the barrier of 50 bucks on Ebay.
The first piece of show is probably a soundboard recording, Blaze say that the show is being recorded, in Gothenburg, Sweden on November 1st, 1995. The second piece of show was recorded in Glasgow, Scotland on November 5th 1995, and this last one is a radio broadcast. Both have a great sound quality.
Tracks 1-9 recorded in Sweden, and tracks 10-13 recorded in Scotland.
As it was usual from Blaze he mixed and was always forgetting parts of the lyric of "Fortunes Of War", a real disgrace, his voice was so bad...
This Cd comes with a nice booklet with photos taken from the tour programme and also from Lord Of The Flies Cd single.
Track listing:
1- Man On The Edge
2- Wrathchild
3- Heaven Can Wait
4- Lord Of The Flies
5- Afraid To Shoot Strangers

7- The Aftermath
8- Sign Of The Cross

Bootleg CD: Digipack CD, Stockholm Olympic stadium, Sweden 2003.

This double live digipack Cd I don't have a clue about is name because on the front cover has just the Iron Maiden logo. Its an outstanding edition, it brings a nice booklet with track listing and some thoughts from the person who produced it, I believe. The booklet has some very cool photos. First Cd has 12 tracks recorded in Stockholm, Sweden, June 28th 2003 on The Give Me Ed 'Til I'm Dead Tour. The second Cd has 7 tracks from the 2003 show that we talking about, plus tracks 8-10 recorded at Stockholm stadium in June 27, 2000, and also tracks 11-13 recorded at Roskild festival in June 29, 2000.

Bootleg CD: Waldrock festival June 21 2003, digipack CD.

This is another great addition to my finest selection of bootleg recordings. Its a powerful performance at Waldrock Festival in June 21, 2003, a show that was part of the Give Me Head 'Till I'm Dead world summer tour. This is a radio broadcast, so , as you guys imagine, the sound is marvelous, almost like a official recording. Comes in a digipack format, very beautiful I have to say, and on front cover, back and inside we can see photos of that concert and I believe also from that tour.Unfortunately this Cd doesn't bring the entire show, we must wait for a complete edition in the future, I'm sure it will come out one day, still it has 10 tracks plus "Blood Brothers" recorded at Roskilde June 29 2003.
Track listing:
1- Hallowed Be Thy Name
2- 22 Acacia Avenue
3- Wildest Dreams
4- Brave New World
5- The Clansman
6- Heaven Can Wait
7- Fear Of The Dark

For the record I have to say that this items are from my personal collection and they are here for exposition and not for selling or copy purposes.

Bootleg CD:

Giving Head To Ed, the first 7 tracks were recorded at Roskilde Festival Denmark, June 27th 2003, tracks 8 and 9 were recorded at Waldrock Festival, Holland, June 21 2003.
This is a tri-fold digipack Cd. Again, a radio broadcast with an incredible sound, you can hear everything perfectly, a real must have item!!

Bootleg CD: Killers Japanese vinyl replica.

First, I will start to explain that this stuff is not official.
I would also like to say that like everything in my collection I chose to have just this few ones that seemed to me the most cool from the whole collection.
This vinyl replicas were released in 2007. They are not 100% faithful to the Japanese official vinyls ( just Live After Death and Piece Of Mind were released in gatefold format) , but its great items to collect.
This one , Killers, is really great because it brings a replica of the poster, fantastic!!
Enjoy.

For the record I have to say that this items are from my personal collection and they are here for exposition and not for selling or copy purposes.

Bootleg CD: Live After Death Japanese vinyl replica.

Another great boot. Brings everything like on the Japanese official vinyl.

For the record I have to say that this items are from my personal collection and they are here for exposition and not for selling or copy purposes.

Bootleg CD: Somewhere in Time Japanese vinyl replica.

Wow guys!! This one is fabulous! Brings almost everything like on the Japanese official vinyl, just the sticker and a mini Cd imitating the 7' inch with the interview are missing. You must have this!

For the record I have to say that this items are from my personal collection and they are here for exposition and not for selling or copy purposes.

Bootleg CD: Dance Of Death Japanese vinyl replica.

Dance of Death Japanese vinyl replica. Please note that this is bootleg, in case you didn't notice in what category you entered.
This Cd's came up around 2007 if I'm not mistaken, they are not official, this one is imitating the Japanese release with the extra booklet.

For the record I have to say that this items are from my personal collection and they are here for exposition and not for selling or copy purposes.

Bootleg CD: A Matter of Life and Death Japanese vinyl replica

This Cd is great, brings a very funny mini replica of the 2007 official calendar, the inner sleeve was reproduced like on the vinyl, marvelous! Please note that there was no Japanese official vinyl for this album.
Since they were trying to imitate an imaginary vinyl Japanese album they did not put here the bonus DVD.

For the record I have to say that this items are from my personal collection and they are here for exposition and not for selling or copy purposes.

Bootleg CD: A Matter of Life And Death trifold digipack CD with bonus DVD.

Another great bootleg release. This stuff was produced in Russia, I think, but its great for the ones who like me love digipacks and vinyl replicas. Brings also the same booklet as on the official issue and the same bonus DVD.

For the record I have to say that this items are from my personal collection and they are here for exposition and not for selling or copy purposes.

Bootleg CD: The South American Rise. Argentina gig from 1996.

This recording is one of the best bootlegs around from the 1995/96 X Factor world tour. Recorded live at Obras Sanitarias Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina on August 31Th, 1996, its probably a soundboard recording and has really a great sound.
As usual Blaze voice was a completely disgrace, out of tune in a lot of situations, weak voice, I still don't understand what Iron Maiden saw in Blaze voice and still don't understand as well why they didn't fire him after that tour since it was obvious that he was not the right man for the job. Its really painfull to hear him, and I just buy this bootlegs because the instrumental parts, I try to forget Blaze. He was constantly forgetting and mixing parts of some songs, specially Aftermath and Fortunes Of War, a real disgrace...
Track listing:
1- Man On The Edge
2 - Wrathchild
3- Lord Of The Flies
4- Fortunes Of War
5- Blood On The World's Hands
6- The Aftermath
7- Sign Of The Cross
8- 2 Minutes To Midnight
9- Iron Maiden
10- The Number Of The Beast
11- Hallowed Be Thy Name
12- The Trooper
13- Running Free

For the record I have to say that this items are from my personal collection and they are here for exposition and not for selling or copy purposes.
